VEEDERSBURG — Robert E. DeAth, 95, rural Veedersburg, died at 10:17 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at his residence. He was born Jan. 25, 1912 in Mellott, the son of Hubert and Jessie (Rice) DeAth. He was first married to Mary Anges Spear on Oct. 28, 1939. She preceded in death July 3, 1982. On July 16, 1988, he married Faye York in the Centennial Church, south of Veedersburg. She survives. He was a life resident of the Mellott community, graduating from Mellott High School in 1931. He had farmed all of his life in Richland Township in Fountain County. He was a member of the Mellott United Church of Christ and had been attending the Centennial Church since 1988. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Rita (H. G.) Ratcliff, Covington; two sons, Bob DeAth, Hillsboro and Greg (Janice) DeAth, Fairfield, Iowa; two step sons, Leroy (Rosemary) York, Kingman and Leland York, Danville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a step son, a step granddaughter and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
